What is APD?

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) is an agency separate from the Department of Children and Families, specifically tasked with serving the needs of Floridians with developmental disabilities.

Who is eligible to receive services?

The agency serves Floridians with developmental disabilities as defined in Ch. 393, Florida Statutes. This includes individuals with the following disabilities:

  • People severely impaired by autism

  • Cerebral palsy

  • Spina bifida

  • Intellectual disabilities

  • Down syndrome

  • Prader-Willi syndrome

  • Phelan-McDermid syndrome

  • Children age 3-5 who are at a high risk of a developmental disability

What services are provided?

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) works with private providers, like Comfort Home Care Agency to support people who have developmental disabilities and their families in living, learning, and working in their communities.

Specifically, Comfort Home Care Agency can provide the following:

  • Personal Supports

  • Respite (Under 21)

  • Transportation

  • Private Duty Nursing (LPN)

  • Residential Nursing (LPN)

  • Skilled Nursing (LPN)
